Who said holidays need to cost a fortune? You can holiday in Noosa without breaking the bank by taking advantage of the free things to do in Noosa this winter.
From taking a road-trip and sightseeing, picking delicious fresh fruit, to building sandcastles on the beach, there are so many exciting, relaxing and free things to do in the Noosa region without spending a cent.
Experience Nature
Embrace nature with a relaxing stroll through the Noosa Botanic Gardens. Breathe in the wonderful aroma of the wildflowers and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife exploring the gardens along side you. A range of native birds, fish, lizards, turtles and more inhabit this beautiful parkland.
Don’t forget your picnic basket! There are picnic areas throughout the park so you can enjoy your meal with a view. Just remember not to feed the wildlife.
Noosa National Park also has a wide range of intriguing native flora and fauna, including koalas, for you to spy above you in the trees. The walkways also lead out to breathtaking viewing points of the headland and down to the pristine bays.
Which brings us to the most obvious free activity Noosa has to offer!
Noosa Beaches
Noosa has a vast array of water holes to enjoy, including gorgeous beaches and lakes. Go for a surf, build sandcastles, or simply soak up the sunshine. While you’re on the beach, keep an eye out for some spectacular sea life including dolphins and whales.
Some of our favourite Noosa beaches include;
Noosa Main Beach – only a 5 minute drive away from our resort! Get amongst the other beach goers and pull out your CoolCabana to fit in with the crowd.
Peregian Beach – a cruisy 15 minute drive south, this quaint sea-side village is definitely one to put on your list. Browse the town then head to the beach!
Sunshine Beach – 10 minutes away by car, this stunning open beach is shaped by the beautiful headland and boarders the Noosa National Park. Bring your surfboard or enjoy walking along it’s pristine shoreline.
Fall for Waterfalls
This ones for the nature lovers, the Noosa region and Sunshine Coast is home to some spectacular waterfalls, that are definitely a must do!
Some of the most popular falls include:
Kondalilla Falls – located between the hinterland towns of Montville and Mapleton, Kondalilla Falls is great for bushwalking or simply having a dip in the watering hole underneath the falls.
Gardeners Falls – a very popular waterfall and walking track located in Maleny, only a 15 minute drive from Kondalilla Falls, you can make a day of bushwalking and swimming in these beautiful waterfalls.
Buderim Forest Waterfall – If you want to stay a little closer to Noosa, Buderim Forest Waterfall is an easy 45 minute drive away. The track to this lovely waterfall is an easy walk for small kids so it makes for a perfect family day trip from Noosa.

Noosa has bright and exciting playgrounds scattered all around to occupy and wear out your children while you sit back and relax and watch them have fun.

Window Shop
Take a stroll along Hastings Street, Noosa’s beating heart of tourism. If you’re set on sticking to your budget, then leave your wallet at home. Hastings Street has so much to offer, even for the window shoppers.
Start your stroll at dusk and enjoy the twinkling fairy lights and torches that spiral up the trees to line the street. There is also a beautiful parkland at the end of the street with ocean views and park tables and restrooms, so you can bring along your own picnic, if you can resist the aromas from the abundant cafes and restaurants along the street.

Finally, after all that activity, you’ll be craving something from Noosaville’ s bustling food scene. You are spoilt for choice with an array of Gympie Terrace restaurants, cool coffee shops and fine dining.
For some breakfast and coffee, try one of the many quaint cafes lined along the terrace. For a fancier breakfast, head to Thomas Corner Eatery, or sample for the classic eggs’ benedict at the Depot Café. If you want a family friendly dinner where the locals go, head to Barefoot Bar and Grill, Little Humid, or 250 Grammi.
Gympie Terrace is also known for its fine dining scene, try some local seafood at the Noosa Boathouse, or indulge in authentic cuisine at the Noosa Waterfront Restaurant.

YOYO Bar & Restaurant
Slip into that relaxed Mediterranean dining experience at YOYO Bar & Restaurant. Upbeat music along with the bar-style seating spills onto the timber deck overlooking Noosa River – offering a relaxed and uplifting mood.

250 Grammi
Look no further that 250 Grammi for authentic Italian cuisine. Danny Giannarelli, founder and owner and business and life partner Daniela Pellizzato remain true to Italian heritage and flavours, therefore 75% of ingredients are imported from Italy. They are known for their fabulous pizzas, including gluten free, because they import high-quality flour and yeast from Italy. This provides authenticity, their unique selling point in this market. They also respect and love the region’s local produce, so they use locally sourced fresh veggies, fish and seafood.
Lively and atmospheric, this is the type of restaurant where you can let your hair down and have a good time with your friends and family. Designed to share, you’ll get a taste of more dishes – lucky you!
Head Chef, Melvin Benjamin Matos Feliz (Benjo), moved from the Dominican Republic to Italy as a toddler and grew up surrounded by Tuscan culinary culture. He has worked in France, the UK and Canada. Head Chef Pizza Art, Stefano Simoni, is hailed as one of the best Pizzaiolo in Melbourne and works an authentic Marana Forni pizza oven at 250 Grammi. From years of research and studies, pizza is Stefano’s lifelong passion – you’re in for a treat!
Maisie’s Seafood & Steakhouse
Experience classic seafood by the charming Noosa River. Originally built in 1920 and run by the Massoud family as a café, it was the first of its kind in the district. Maisie Massoud, who was known then as ‘The Favourite’ worked as a chef and waitress at her parents’ café and it was eventually named after Maisie to Maisie’s Seafood & Steakhouse. Before her passing in 2005, Maisie would regularly dine here, enjoying oysters for entrée, main and dessert. Photos of Maisie and her family adorn the walls, where you can absorb the history and ambience.
Sit down to a great value meal, offering the firm family favourites, including Fisherman’s Basket, steak with your choice of sauce and fish and chips. Freshly prepared using the finest local produce, when possible, you’ll be served generous portions, so arrive hungry!
Choose to dine inside to soak up the colourful and lively atmosphere or dine outside and enjoy the cool river breeze and a bit of people watching. Keep it casual and bring your own bottle of wine for a moderate corkage $5 per person.

Embrace the German cuisine at wanderlust – managed by Marc and Val, who relocated to Noosaville from North Lakes in 2019. Experience German Café culture mixed with Noosaville’s laidback lifestyle. So, whether you just want a coffee, a traditional hearty German meal washed down with a classic beer, or more of a classic Aussie breakfast, this is your place.

Noosa River living
The beautiful Noosa River is ideal for water activities, which is also a great way to immerse yourself in this incredible environment. Therefore, you and your family or friends can use our 3 stand-up paddle boards, 1 double kayak and 2 single kayaks! These are FREE to hire if you book your stay direct with us and for a small fee if you have booked through another company. You’ll go from resort to river in no time!
For other river activities, there’s so many places where you can hire fishing boats, catch the ferry or book a river cruise. The Noosa River Foreshore is a fantastic area to walk, cycle or workout using the outdoor gym. If you have young kids check out the pirate park, the big pelican and meet the local pelicans and seagulls!

All our 2-bedroom apartments are fully self-contained and can be customised into a 1-bedroom apartment. Every apartment is two-storeys featuring one queen bed, two single beds and one bathroom with free WIFI and a smart TV. You’ll get a dedicated parking space and additional parking is available in the visitor spaces or on Weyba Road.
If you have small children, we have stair gates at no charge and cots and highchairs for hire. An extra fold-out bed can also be hired for one additional guest per apartment. We’ll also accommodate any room requests where possible made at the time of booking, so you can have the best stay possible!
