Free Things to do in Noosa this Winter

Who said holidays need to cost a fortune? You can holiday in Noosa without breaking the bank by taking advantage of the free things to do in Noosa this winter.

From taking a road-trip and sightseeing, picking delicious fresh fruit, to building sandcastles on the beach, there are so many exciting, relaxing and free things to do in the Noosa region without spending a cent.

Experience Nature

Embrace nature with a relaxing stroll through the Noosa Botanic Gardens. Breathe in the wonderful aroma of the wildflowers and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife exploring the gardens along side you. A range of native birds, fish, lizards, turtles and more inhabit this beautiful parkland.

Don’t forget your picnic basket! There are picnic areas throughout the park so you can enjoy your meal with a view. Just remember not to feed the wildlife.

Noosa National Park also has a wide range of intriguing native flora and fauna, including koalas, for you to spy above you in the trees. The walkways also lead out to breathtaking viewing points of the headland and down to the pristine bays.

Which brings us to the most obvious free activity Noosa has to offer!

Noosa Beaches

Noosa has a vast array of water holes to enjoy, including gorgeous beaches and lakes. Go for a surf, build sandcastles, or simply soak up the sunshine. While you’re on the beach, keep an eye out for some spectacular sea life including dolphins and whales.

Some of our favourite Noosa beaches include;

Noosa Main Beach – only a 5 minute drive away from our resort! Get amongst the other beach goers and pull out your CoolCabana to fit in with the crowd.

Peregian Beach – a cruisy 15 minute drive south, this quaint sea-side village is definitely one to put on your list. Browse the town then head to the beach!

Sunshine Beach – 10 minutes away by car, this stunning open beach is shaped by the beautiful headland and boarders the Noosa National Park. Bring your surfboard or enjoy walking along it’s pristine shoreline.

Fall for Waterfalls

This ones for the nature lovers, the Noosa region and Sunshine Coast is home to some spectacular waterfalls, that are definitely a must do!

Some of the most popular falls include:

Kondalilla Falls – located between the hinterland towns of Montville and Mapleton, Kondalilla Falls is great for bushwalking or simply having a dip in the watering hole underneath the falls.

Gardeners Falls – a very popular waterfall and walking track located in Maleny, only a 15 minute drive from Kondalilla Falls, you can make a day of bushwalking and swimming in these beautiful waterfalls.

Buderim Forest Waterfall – If you want to stay a little closer to Noosa, Buderim Forest Waterfall is an easy 45 minute drive away. The track to this lovely waterfall is an easy walk for small kids so it makes for a perfect family day trip from Noosa.

Let them run free!

Noosa has bright and exciting playgrounds scattered all around to occupy and wear out your children while you sit back and relax and watch them have fun.

Noosa River pirate playground – located along Gympie Terrace in Noosaville, a leisurely 15-minute stroll along the river from our resort!

Tewantin Splash park – a fun water park by the Noosa River, where parents can relax and kids can run around!

Peregian playground – a great shaded adventure playground for the little ones, nearby to some great cafes for parents!

Window Shop

Take a stroll along Hastings Street, Noosa’s beating heart of tourism. If you’re set on sticking to your budget, then leave your wallet at home. Hastings Street has so much to offer, even for the window shoppers.

Start your stroll at dusk and enjoy the twinkling fairy lights and torches that spiral up the trees to line the street. There is also a beautiful parkland at the end of the street with ocean views and park tables and restrooms, so you can bring along your own picnic, if you can resist the aromas from the abundant cafes and restaurants along the street.
